Insurance Co discriminate mental health diagnoses for long term disability by d/c benefits at 24 mth
It is so refreshing that mental health parity is here. So many years it was difficult to get quality care and the care was limited depending on what the insurance company wanted to pay.
Long term disability insurance is still discriminating against people with mental healh diagnoses by being allowed to discontinue peoples benefits at 24 months while benefits for physical illnesses have no limits or discontinue time.
The insurance companies have protection under federal ERISA laws. They also have a discretionary clause in their contracts that allows the insurance companies to basically decide on their own whether someone is disabled with little input from others.
Please contact your congress and State division of insurance to prevent this type of
discrimination to continue.

I agree with
Stop the insurance companies from discriminating against mental health diagnoses and cutting long term disability insurance after 24 months. -

Physical disabilities do not have these same limitations and are covered until one is 65 years old.
Why should the insurance companies be allowed to take advantage of sick individuals who need the benefits they paid for?
How can Congress and EEOC allow this to continue? People lose homes, cars,
Their lives can start in a downward spiral. Contact your legislators and ask
the insurance companies not be given liberty to treat individuals with disabilities this way. -

Not only that. I was denied purchasing disability insurance after having seen a social worker for anxiety during divorce. There was no serious mental illness, no psychosis. Consumers are therefore actively discouraged by disability insurers from seeking care.
