  1. Add a note on the search page highlighting the fact that visitors can search for providers with a specific expertise or population.

One concern is that people accessing the website may not be aware that they can do a more detailed search by clicking on the “Select Services” button. We suggest that you add a note on the search page highlighting the fact that visitors can search for providers offering specific services or population areas of expertise. Additionally, the homepage could specify that there will be an option for a more detailed search after the location-based search. For example, the text could read: “To locate the mental health treatment program nearest you, find your state on the map below and click on…

    • Expand MAT Options in locator; make search more flexible

The current site is helpful although very limited in identifying providers offering medication assisted therapy (MAT). I recommend that additional medications beyond buprenorphine and methadone (e.g., naltrexone oral and injectable forms, acamprosate) be listed and identified as provided at applicable sites of care. Additionally, it would be very helpful to enable patients and caregivers to search for facilities that offer these specific additional MATs (e.g., Naltrexone injectable treatment locator).

      • Implement a feedback loop

A feedback loop can serve as a resource to self-correct the information, e.g. a service provider does not appear listed, the address is incorrect, the "Audience" is not accurate. By allowing providers and people seeking service to provide feedback on the services, you can validate and then update the locator information in a more responsive way
instead of waiting for an annual review.

        • Expand the "Show" function

Include a "Show All" function to expand all search listings, as well as, the current individual "Show" options.

          • Review Treatment Centers

Allow people to review treatment centers and to rate them. Let others know what worked and what did not work. Are they using evidence-based methods? Is family involvement a part of the treatment? Do they have a good after-care plan?

            • When the facility you offer doesn't have what I need but your listing shows it does!

When I call a facility that you've given me and they tell me they don't provide the services I've outlined to the person taking my call at SAMHSA and have been told they do, what would be the best way for me to help reduce these inconsistencies to save my time, the facilities time and SAMHSA's? Like everyone involved we are so very busy and under pressure to find placement. I know I am as a mental crisist therapist at an acute hospital's mental health unit, and certainly SAMHSA is, as well as the facility I call. I've used your…

                • Culture sensitive information may invite reluctant individuals to use the advertised service.

Individuals seeking service(s) for either sa/mh or both may apply knowing that LBBTQ, Pastoral, deaf services/sensitivity, bi-liqual which represent a segment of the general population. Insensitivity to culture concerns can block the receipt of treatment services.

                      • Complete user friendly overhaul of Substance Abuse Services Locator

The Treatment Services Locator needs a complete overhaul. It is not technically user friendly and does not facilitate directing confused and gfrightened consumers to the best match of treatment for their own or their loved one's particular needs, basing this on the best evidence-based science. It is a waste of money and a heartache for families to have addict cycle in and out of treatment when an approach that is best suited to the needs of the individual by age, gender, type of substance, and characteristics relevant to the success of specific treatment modalities and program characteristics are documented. Improving…

                        • Clarify medicare funded treatment programs for the elderly. I have found very few programs when I've looked.

I would like to know if medicare or medicare supplements are accepted for people over age 65 who need treatment.

                          • More Acess and Faster Updating Capacity Needed

I believe that the description has to be fluid and ability to update more sooner than annually, The health care reform act is causing rapid reorganization. In addition those folks who are not motioning the website for SAMHSA, need to be able to receive email or text updates as well as find programs via smart devices. Hard to reach communities have less access to technology of laptops and tablets as well as internet providers, bear in mind the 47%.

                            • Add whether treatment sites provide breathalyzer and/or urinalysis testing

Colorado State Probation requires DUI and Domestic Violence Offenders to perform random breath and urinalysis testing - when traveling, those offenders use the Substance Abuse Treatment Services Locator to comply with their probation terms and conditions regarding testing. It would be very helpful to be able to sort the database by sites that provide those testing services - or at least have the services identified in the description

                                • Could the site list the hours of operation of the facilities

It would be of great assistance for providers to have information related to hours of operation for treatment facilites when trying to contact them.

                                  • Target recommendations based on client needs

The Tx Locator should help those looking for treatment by targeting the recommendations based on the clients drug-use, mental health, and location needs. It would be great if payment and insurance information could also be incorporated.

                                    • Add a category for Cognitive Based Education Classes such as Prime for Life or Change Corp.

As it stands now, Cognitive Based Education classes are lumped in with Substance Abuse Treamtent which would include services such as Intensive Outpatient. Based on State Laws, many of my clients are only required to attend classes and when trying to find agencies offering cognitive based classes, I generally have to go to each facilities website or contact them directly to ask whether those classes are offered. If a symbol or category were added, this would make the process much easier and faster.

                                      • More resources for family practice to successfully monitor and prescribe controlled substances in order to treat chronic pain and anxiety

We are in a small town with limited availability of pain/anxiety treatment. How do I ensure in my practice my POC is on target? How often do I drug test? How can I differentiate the drug seeker from the legit patient? What drugs do I test for? Do I have the patient bring in their bottles for pill counts? What drugs are "hot" on the street? What drugs should I not prescribe? I would like more information on the plan of care for successful treatment of these patients. THANK YOU very much

                                        • Have some form of indicator for agencies/organizations that practice trauma informed principles.

Just have some type of indicator, a symbol, that organizations have trained employees who practice trauma informed principles. There are still places that practice restraint and seclusion which is a traumatizing and unhealthy way of treating people.
