The prevalence of FASD greatly exceeds the prevalence of autism, yet which brain dysfunction receives the most attention. By a long shot it is autism. The prisons are full of adults who are FASD. If they had been diagnosed at an early age and received appropriate services, they might not be in prison today. People don't like to talk about FASD. It makes many of us feel uncomfortable. It is ignored and in need of much more research and treatment.
