True mental health recovery means leaving the scientifically invalid "brain disease" model behind.
The long-term outcomes data is in, and it shows that taking psychiatric drugs actually *increases* the likelihood of becoming chronically "ill." It's time to ditch the DSM and start looking into the true causes of so-called mental illness. It's time to focus on less harmful, more effective treatment options. It's time to embrace HEALTH rather than disease.

Children, Families and the Recovery Definition's Guiding Principles
Recommended Definition -- Recovery From Mental and Substance Use Disorders is a process of personal, relational and family healing that includes each striving to achieve their full potential and reconciliation.
Sis Wenger
National Association for Children of AlcoholicsOver 30 years ago mental health clinicians – social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and marriage and family counselors – began to name what they were seeing clinically: children with behavioral and mental health problems, teens who were depressed and suicidal, and adults with anxiety and relationship disorders, depression, and many with what is now called post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Recovery is a gradual process of change should be made more explicit.
The definition states that recovery is a process of change. However, it should be noted more explicitly that recovery is a gradual process over time. In my community and clinical experience, I encountered many that expect their recovery to be happen with mininal time. The idea of a gradual process should be included as a priciple given the notion that any process involves a form of progression. However, with progression come regression and stasis. Witrh the help of community, family, and others, the process and goals are attainable.

Recovery isn't surrendering to a higher power, it's building the self to never surrender again.
A person's recovery cannot be built upon unproven and unreliable supports like supreme beings. What will happen to those in recovery if they lose their faith or if their supreme being is disproven?

I think this is a great shift in public view of recovery.
Each and every person knows what they want for their own lives and therefore CAN SUCCESSFULLY guide their own recovery. Where I work we define recovery as "remembering who you are and using your strengths to become all that you were meant to be!"

Hines Thoughts on Recovery
Recovery: is ongoing...it is forever. Those suffering from any mental health issue, (brain disease), physical, emotional, or drug and alcohol misuse issues are constantly within recover. Although they are in varying levels of recovery from development and diagnosis to finding the work ethic and power inside to enter into recovery. It takes a certain modicum of wellness to recognize the need for clinical and peer supportive help, once that is first level is reached "true" recovery becomes possible, then even Plausible. -Kevin Hines

Recovery is finding oneself within a world of difficuties and learning to be true to one self.
world of difficulties and learning to be true to oneself because recovery is different for each person. Recovery cannot not have a blanket definition for recovery can change from day to day. Today I feel great tomorrow I an wondering what to do with the rest of my life so my decision will determine what is recovery for me today.

To empower wellness we need national health in which mental health is equal and alternative choice i
National Health care, mental health care is equal and alternative health choices are free. We need to treat the whole body as one we can only do that if even the traditonaly have nots have access to all health care, dental and hearing as well as unlimited and quality mental health with no restrictions placed on numbers of days, or kinds of service, including hospitalization. It is ridiculous to think someone can be stabilized in less than 14 days when the medicine alone claims not to start working until 2-3 weeks after the first dose. Unless the person is safe…
