Drugs and alcohol recovery is completly different from mental heath recovery.

        Many people who stop using alcohol and/or drugs then find out that they have (had) an underlying mental disorder.

        With substance abuse Abstinence is the goal.With mental Heath recovery medication compliance with ongoing therapy is the goal.If the person has a dual diagnosis then they schould be doing both.There are now meetings in 12 step recovery specifically made for the dual diagnosed person.
