The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

SAMHSA Stakeholder Feedback

Tell us your views on the working definition of recovery from mental and substance use disorders. What do you like about the definition, and what changes do you suggest?

NAMI's response is archaic and offensive. Please don't incorporate any of their ideas into this

As`a person with 50 years in recovery I agree with the National Center for Recovery's statement. They can speak alongside of me. NAMI's letter from Michael Fitzpatrick is anti-thetical to person centered, choice, self-determination and full integration into the family and community of your choice, on your terms with your hopes, dreams and decisions about treatment.
